Western us trip
We are planning to take a trip next year from Louisville, KY to Glacier, MT. We will be stopping along the way and back to see various sites. Sine this will be my first long trip with my trailer (will get 27dsrl soon), I was wondering how long to plan each leg for. I was thinking bout6 hours and that would put us about 300 miles per leg. Just wondering what others may have experienced

You're on the right track IMHO. I plan my stops around 350 miles or less. Like to stop early so I have more time to enjoy the stop.

We do just what Don said. Stopping early then relax with a libation. It also depends on planning nice places to stop and how long you're staying there.

A lot of sites recommend 250 miles a day max and make sure you arrive before dark so you can pull in and see what your doing.. Take your time and enjoy the journey that is what RVing is really all about.

We just got back yesterday from a trip from California to Florida. We put on 6,900 miles. We usually did about 300 a day. We got stuck a couple of times due to weather. I would plan 300, and then each night go to the Good Sam site to find an RV park for the next day. Every morning I would call one and reserve. I use an IPad with the map app. It makes things really easy.
I have been to Glacier park several times. Never in an RV. I do know that campgrounds and hotels in And around the park are booked 6 months in advance. Plan now.

Thank you all for the replies. For this trip we are going to stop at Yellowstone and turn around there. We will go to glacier on another trip and then make a third trip to see giant redwoods. I hate having to schedule things around work

We've been across Canada over the last 2 years. Did east coast first year followed by the west coast this past summer. Travelled 17,000 kms over those two trips and really found that it worked well if we kept travel days to less than 6 hours. We would leave early each travel day and arrive early afternoon so we could enjoy the rest of the day.
