Westinghouse inverter/generator 4500 DF

So I porchased one at Lowe’s , I had shopped for one for a year. I decided on the Westinghouse for options and then price I can buy 3.5 of these each with 3 year full warranty for what a Honda with 4500watts ! It has electric start easy for wife or kids to start keyless starting push a button and vroom dual fuel ! Has or LP ! Quiet 52.0 decibels . 97 pounds 18 hours of run time at 4500 watts 36 on variable output. 1399.00 I can’t beat it with a stick . 97% recommended to buy with over 1300 5 star rating and only 22 1 ⭐️ and everyone was a damaged in transport issue or people who didn’t read instructions on how to hook up the battery for electric start ! I spoke to many on another forum before I found this jayco forum lol my new home !!! Lol 😂! Anyone here have one ? Any one to say I’m a dummie or I did good ? It’ll run my house if need be also or my trappers cabin !

You did good Steve, certainly enough generator to run most anything. Boy I'd hate to lift that thing though.

You know my wife and I can pretty easily lift it in and out of our truck . I could do it myself if I had to in a emergency. But it’s the same weight as many of the 3000 watt inverters out there . And once it’s in the truck it’s there for the rest of our trip ! Plus I can help out fellow campers who need a quick charge while still running my air or furnace... that’s one of the reasons I purchased this unit . It has a full three year warranty and you can spend 50.00 more and add 2 years and Westinghouse has great customer service !

Sounds like a great deal. You are correct on the weight thing. My 3500 Watt Predator weighs just under 100 pounds.

I have this exact model and not a problem. Just start it and let it run once a month and all is well.

My Harbor Freight 3500 watt inverter weighs about the same, 99 lbs. The first time I had my wife help me load it she injured her shoulder...torn rotator cuff. She was in a sling for 8 weeks.

I bought this hoist from Harbor Freight so now I can easily load it into my truck bed by myself.

I'm dry camping in my 2018 JayFlight 264BHW while I'm building an earth sheltered home. I'm close to having shore power on site but in the interim I'm running two WEN generators.

One is a 56200i 2 KW surge/1.8KW continuous which I run over night. I use a CPAP machine and need to keep it powered up. My other is a 56380i 3.8 KW surge/3.4KW continuous that I run when I need to use my microwave. Needless to say I have many hours on these two units. Overall satisfied with them.

It's good to have 4500 watts, but at 98 lbs., plus a full tank of fuel, you're at about 125lbs.. Add in a three gallon spare tank of fuel and you're at the 150 pound mark. That all gets subtracted from your truck's payload. Are your numbers getting a little skinny with an F-150?

2022..

I am about to purchase this exact same Generator.. It has a lot of the features and specs that I need. Now I don't have a large rig but like being able to run what I want, when I want..

Was also thinking about buying the platform that goes over the LP Tanks to house the Westinghouse when at campgrounds.. Any advice on the platforms??

Ok, so you've had this westinghouse for awhile. How do you like it? I'm pondering getting one. Matt

My Daughter has several of the smaller 2200 Westinghouse generators. Some times they run for days straight on the farm and never miss a beet. My son inlaw hasent killed them in over 2 years and that is saying a lot. He can break an anvil by looking at it. Lol
I have one I use for smaller needs in the RV. I use it more than the onboard Onan. I believe they are the same as a Generac brand.

Well the OP has had it longer than I've had mine.. So far I've used it twice.. The first time was a start-up and checking out all the specs and capabilities.. The 2nd time was testing out the parallel capabilities. And, let me tell you, it worked out great.. Ran the HVAC and the normal plug-ins just to test the system.. Everything from the Range and Microwave with the TV and Surround Sound system as well as the lighting inside and out.. Had no issue.. I did fill the fuel tanks only to 3/4 though. Read that somewhere on a separate forum.. But like I said.. So far, So good..
