Wet awning

So, it's been raining and we've been getting ice here for what seems like weeks. I decided to unroll the awning on the new to us 2 year old jay flight. The thing was pouring out water as I went. Might be a stupid question, but is this normal?

Yup. I park mine under a Carolina Carport and it still has moisture when I open it.

That's why you want to keep your awning clean. The water doesn't seem to hurt anything as long as there's nothing growing in there.

I've heard of people cutting two liter soda bottles to stick on the ends, never tried it myself but it makes sense.

As everyone else stated, its normal. Just don't stand under it while opening.

I wash the awning whenever I was the tt. That's all I do abut it.

Don't lean your head out the door when you're closing it, either.

Interesting about the wicking comments. I have wondered this too. Our last tt had a manual awning and was always dry unless it was rolled up in the rain. The Jayco seems like it's nearly always wet.

I wash the awning at the start and end of the camping season with a solution of bleach and dish soap. Apply, roll up, wait 15 minutes then spray off.

Toward the end of the season the mildew smell is brutal.
