Wet my bed

Is there a better way to prevent condensed water flowing back from our AC unit?

As soon as the RV goes back on the road and hits a few bumps, the bed will get wet.

The water must be pooling inside somewhere and not draining properly? Is this common?

Thanks!

I would check any drain holes/hoses make sure they're not clogged up with debris and working. I guess that AC unit should be sloped for good drainage as well. Mind you when we get old our bowls fool us sometimes

A properly installed window unit should drain to the outside if installed properly and all drains are open.

Some no longer have drain holes, but rely on a slinger fan to throw the water on the condenser coil for evaporation.

As Grumpy mentioned and as I have seen most now have a pan that holds condensate and the fan dips into it and slings it on the condenser coil which reduces or eliminates all condensate water. There is a low spot in the pan in case the pan gets too full which is supposed to allow the pan to overflow at the furthest edge (furthest away from the inside). My thought is one could carefully add (drill) a drain though which would/could keep the pan empty and if it is empty then none should ever drain inside the RV. ~CA

We love our Jayco 5th wheel, but are thinking about the next rig. Probably a 5th wheel again. Checking out other forums to see what people say about their brands. None of the forums I've seen compare to this one in number of posts, relevant information, and humor. Wet my bed, lol.

You just need to tilt that thing out a little.

Well that shows how long it's been since I installed a window unit!

There’s an easy fix for that!

Buy some plastic tubing & a large pop rivet to fit snugly in it, remove the pin then glue the rivet in the hole you had to make for the drain. Insert the tube and it’s now draining outside

I owned a 2012 Jayflight Swift SLX 185RB I upgraded to a 6,500 btu AC because the 5k factory unit did the same thing yours does, and I could only get about 16-18 degrees drop from outside. After removing only two screws, the unit slides out of its perch, which should be lined with some sort of pan in the bottom of the cavity. The cabinet framing is 1x1 and mine was stapled together. With the trailer level, my level was indicating slight inward slope, preventing water from draining to the outside. When I installed the 'bigger' AC, I had to cut 1/4 inch from the top of the cabinet, removed the two 1x1 support braces from under the pan and replaced them with 2x4 lumber, cut down about 5/8th inch layed flat and mounted to slope to the outside. Real test was at Lake Conroe in August, overnight low 82 degrees, humidity 90%. Condenser fan was blowing water through the screen and literally pouring out of drain hose down the side of the unit. Never had water in the unit again.
