What are these knobs used for?

Hello everyone,

We have a 2017 Jayco Jayflight 29RKS and are hoping to find out what these two knobs under our bathroom sink are for?

Would they have something to do with our fresh water tank filling up when hooked to city water and the reason the low point lines are dripping?

All replies are appreciated.

Thank you, Rick

Looks like the pictures are upside down, but those appear to be the low-point valves for your water lines. The “T” handle pulls up to open. Sounds like they aren’t seated, allowing them to drip. Try pushing them down farther. The O-rings inside of them can dry out, making them hard to open and close. There are posts here about carefully pulling the handle off to lube.

It shouldn’t have any effect on your water tank filling. That sounds more like a bad check valve in your water pump.

Hello and thank you LuckyDuck. The low point valves seem to turn, should they continuously turn and is there a certain position the valves should face ie inline with the water line or in a "T" position when looking directly at them.

Thank you again for your input, it is very much appreciated.

Rick

You can remove the metal clip with a small screwdriver and then pull the handle out. If you remove it completely you'll see the O ring that seals it. They can be easily replaced by the way. Smear a tiny bit of plumbers grease on them and they'll slide back in easier.

They are push to close and pull to open (it doesn't matter the handle orientation). ~CA

Yep. But Ive found mine take some real pressure to get them fully seated or, conversely, pulled up to open. FWIW, after a few years, I decided to put a couple of quarter-turn pex shutoff valves on the drain tubes outside (under) the trailer. Much easier to get to than under the bathroom sink and easy to open and close.

As for the FW tank filling, water from your city fill may be getting through your pump and into the FW tank. The pump check valve should prevent that but not always. I put a check valve in the water line coming out of the pump to stop back pressure from the city fill/distribution lines.

Some look drains have regular 1/4 turn valves. My rig has both in different places. Thankfully all grouped together are the same configuration.

Yes those are the low point drains...I have the same ones in my 2017 and one of them dripped until I opened and closed it a few times.
I like the idea from @6 to leave them open and install two shut offs on the pipes under the RV and kind of upset I didn't think of that
