On a GM HD truck at least, the length of the bed is what determines the receiver rating, not the capacity of the truck. Short bed's have a receiver rated at 1500# and the long bed's receiver is rated at 2000#. I just went thru this when I leased my last GM HD truck.

One suggestion though is if your considering an upgrade to your current receiver, check UHaul. I did the upgrade a couple years ago on my previous GMC 3/4 ton SB truck for the same thing your now looking at and UHaul's Class 5 receiver rated at 2700# was made by Curt and I only paid about 225.00. You can tell by opening the installation manual on UHaul's website and looking at the footer info on each page. In fact, my old one is for sale on this site right now because I don't need it with my new truck.

We don't "camp" in the sense where we are looking for the wide open spaces. We bought our 330RSTS to use as a seasonal "condo on wheels" where we tow it south in the winter and north in the summer, stay in RV parks with full hookups and that accommodate "big rigs" when traveling back and forth. The only times we came close to "camping" was when staying at relatives property up north but still had water and 50 amp electric and used a macerator pump with a Barker tote to empty the black tank if necessary.

I would not worry too much about getting the extended warranty just yet.
When your 2 years are up you can always buy a extended warranty then.

The motorhome I sold in April of this year I had for 3 years, paid $2700 for
a 7 year extended warranty (it only covered inside stuff). I was never able
to use it for anything that did go wrong on the outside or electrical.

I contacted the selling dealer in Texas and applied for a credit of the balance
of the extended warranty and got $1525 back after 3 years and 14k on speedo.

I've talked with a aftermarket warranty company about the 10 month old
2018 Keystone Cougar 30 RLS 5th wheel we bought and the quote from
them was about $2700.
