What do you clean your awning with?

I've got some streaks that probably came from water on my awning. Does anyone have a recommendation on the best thing to clean it with? I was thinking of using Simple Green but I'd like to hear from the experts before I do that.

Thanks all

Simple Green is what I use.

I just spray Simple Green on both sides of the awning real good then roll the awning back up, letting the Simple Green soak in. After about 10 minutes I open the awning, then I use a long handled soft brush dipped in a bucket of water/dish soap and give it a good scrubbing, then rinse. Some areas I may use a little firmer hand brush if required. Seems to clean mine pretty good.

If you are in Canada, there is a fantastic product called Magic Boss which is sold in our trailer supply stores. I have never found anything that cleans the venal or awning better on a trailer.

We just use car wash and a long handle soft brush.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. Couldn't seem to find Magic Boss on Google or Amazon though. I think maybe I will try the others and see which does the best job. Y'all take care and thanks again.

Check the trailer manual or the awning manual. Someplace there is a warning about using any bleach on the awning.
At the Jayco rally a few years ago it was recommended that a dishwashing liquid such as Dawn be used. As suggested in another post, apply the Dawn and water solution, roll up the awning and go have a cup of coffee or other refreshment. Extend the awning, scrub with a soft brush and rinse.
My opinion is that it is better to live with a spot than to apply any bleach to the fabric.

Black streak remover

I used black streak remover on a dry awning, then scrubbed with a stiff bristle brush, and rinsed. Worked reasonably well.

Just tried the Simple Green method. Sprayed, rolled, drank a beer, unrolled, scrubbed, and it worked about 90%. Used pressure washer on medium setting to rinse. Only problem, scrubbed a little too hard while the awning was down and developed to pin holes right where the door and outside speaker were. Errrr. Seems the awning should be a little bit tougher than that.

We've discovered a mixture of this stuff called LA's Totally Awesome (available at your local dollar store) and bleach and water, mix it in a garden sprayer, let it soak 5 min or so use a long brush to gently scrub the really bad parts, the just spray it off with a garden hose. Our entire 'row' of campers has used this mixture with great success.

Sorry to hear about the pinholes, Jim. That bites. Maybe you could get some of that Camp Dry spray stuff that folks use on tents to keep water out. It's maybe worth checking out.

I am going to push back on the supports towards the tt while the awning is extended, this will give me better access to some of the awning. Larry

I use Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. It works like magic. Takes off dirt and mold too. The nice thing is you don't get lots of bleach water dripping down on your head. Honestly, this is the best tool I've found for cleaning the awning.

Sailor is on the money with Dawn. Your owners manual should say what is safe for your specific awning. Some awning material doesn't take to harsh chemicals. Dawn got everything off of mine.

Anything with bleach in it will cause the stitching to deteriorate even if it does not hurt the fabric itself. If you use any bleach, make sure that you rinse the awning really well.

This link has some really good information for both general cleaning and specific stains.
