What’s wrong

I have a 2014 white hawk and I’m having a battery problem. Had battery tested and was fine. When plugged in to shore power the battery won’t charge but charges when hooked up to my battery tender. What should I look for?

It sounds as though the fuse between the convertor and the battery may be blown. If you have a multimeter check the battery voltage when not plugged into shore power then check the voltage after plugged in. There should be an appreciable increase in voltage. You may have a fuse outside next to the front wall that is blown and also check the breakers to see if the one to the convertor is tripped. Click it off then on and see what happens. Do more voltage checks after doing those. If you run the electric tongue jack to its limits it will blow the fuse up front. It's a bad wiring arrangement.

When not connect to shore power does your lights work inside the tt?

Have you checked you fuses? There should be a fuse very close the the battery, also there are a few in the fuse box, that provide protection against reverse polarity.

That is where I would start.

Everything works as should when not hooked up to shore power. Is there a fuse in the little black electrical box that is attached to the frame? The one closest to the battery is for the tongue jack.

There is a 20 amp inline fuse. Follow the cable from the battery and you will find it. From what you described I guarantee you that is the problem. Easy fix.

I've never seen a fuse located "inside" the junction box before...., but anything is possible in the RV industry.

Some models also have a 12V circuit breaker mounted on the frame and may be near the junction box you are referring to. Many times the breaker has a red cap on it..., but the circuit breaker will have a little black reset button on the side. In some cases there will also be an in-line fuse (green enclosure) located near/connected to the circuit breaker.

If all the fuses, breakers, and battery disconnect switch (if supplied) are in operating order......, I would check that the cables mounted on/around the converter/charger are tight behind the main breaker/fuse box (disconnect battery and shore power).

Cant be the inline fuse if things are working when not hooked up to shore power. Maybe your converter is bad.

Incorrect. The inline fuse can be blown and everything will still work on shore power. It just won’t charge the battery.

So start with checking the fuses and then if still no charging check the 12 volt output of the converter by disconnecting it from the 12 volt connection. Put on your list as a minimum a surge protector to protect your electrical system. In the 50 + years never lost a converter yet.
