What's the procedure for blow out plug

I have never used a blowout plug for winterizing.What is the procedure for using the blowout plug? and do you use anti freeze in addition?I do realize I need to put anti freeze in the traps......

Install the plug, set the compressor on 40lbs and then open all your faucets and low point drains.

I always pump antifreeze through after blowing out the lines. The little bit of extra time and cost is, in my opinion, well worth it.

If you have a compressor that will hold a steady 40-50psi, I use to winterize by just blowing the lines, and never had a problem. The compressor I have now struggles to maintain a steady 20 psi, so now I blow them out and follow it by filling the lines with antifreeze. Agree with Grumpy though that the $8.00-$10.00 worth of antifreeze is pretty cheap insurance, especially if you know you won't be using it again until spring.

If you are going to fill the lines with antifreeze there is nothing to be gained by blowing out the lines. JMO

A pure concentration of antifreeze instead of perhaps a 50/50 mix or worse.

Better freeze protection just having pure antifreeze.
