What's this valve for??

In the pic below you will see a brass valve near the bottom of the pic (by the wires). The white line this valve is on penetrates the floor. I'm assuming it goes to the fresh water tank. When winterizing (drawing antifreeze) does it matter if this valve is open or closed?

Having a hard time seeing the valve, but on mine I close the valve going to the fresh water tank when pulling antifreeze. If not, it will just pull air from the tank.

x3. I closed mine as well when winterizing. Also found out that you have to have the system pressurized with water via pump before you change the valves and pull in the antifreeze. Antifreeze replaces the water in the lines, but won't get pulled in to replace air if you've drained all the water out.

I drain everything first and then pump in the RV antifreeze. Works fine. I do shut off the valve for the fresh water tank, bypass the water heater, and open the valve for the antifreeze tube.

I drain the water before I pump the antifreeze into the system. I have not had any problem pulling the antifreeze into the empty water lines.

If that were true you would never get water to fill the lines initially using the pump

Drain the water first. This will drain water away from the city water connection. Otherwise when the antifreeze is pumped in it won't replace the water at the city water check valve since there is no flow at that point.

Open fresh water tank drains. Close the valve between the fresh water tank and the pump. By pass the water heater. Open all faucets. Open low point drains. When the water stops flowing close the low point drains. Optionally you could blow air through the line (less than 35 PSI). Close all faucets. Open valve between pump and antifreeze suction hose. Turn on pump. Open each faucet until antifreeze is flowing. Allow enough to fill the sink traps. Don't forget the toilet and the outside shower. Close the suction line valve. Drain the water heater. Done.

I would love to input to your question, but can't see what that valve controls. Some of the older tt's don't have them all grouped together so it take some insight and imagination to figure it out.

It took some close study of the picture. What I see is two valves where you see the brass fittings and the valve knobs are faced downward. The upper one is to turn on the suction line that is placed in the jug of anti freeze. The lower one is to shut off the line to the fresh water tank.
