In the interest of fairness and balance, and no disrespect intended.....my 29RKS is the second trailer I've owned that has had Dexter axles with self adjusting brakes and EZ lube bearings. I have pulled the Jayco 15,000 mi since purchasing it and just finished greasing the bearings (3rd time, per previous post) The previous trailer I pulled about 25,000 miles. I NEVER had the problems cited by "Rock" or previous posters with brakes or bearings. Maybe I will, but, I haven't! I don't believe the problem is as endemic as cited.
........I agree with the observation about grease on the backing plates of boat trailers. I used to pump grease into my bearing buddies until it oozed out everywhere, along with the water, but, no brakes, no harm no foul.

I agree, after almost 5 years and 30k miles we’ve had no brake/bearing issues. I pulled the hub assemblies apart last year with the expectation I’d replace all the bearings and races. They looked great so I cleaned them and returned them to service. Each season I carefully add grease via the ez-lube zerk. I emphasize “carefully”, it has to be done slowly while the wheel is turning. With a wheel lifted free of the ground it’s the right time to grease the wet bolts too.

Owned boats all my life, non brakes, drum and disc. Never had a bad bearing but about every two years seals would start leaking. EZ lube and greased slow and rotated. TT Manuel adjust brakes never had a problem and never filled hubs by greasing. FW everything replaced twice by two different shops and than factory work done. Nothing but problems with brakes. This time all on my dime and Manuel adjust and hand pack only. Bet no more problems.

I tear mine down every 2 years and hand pack the bearings. The between year they get the spindle injection with the wheels in air and being rotated. Currently have over 30k miles on the original bearings, seals done once. This summer I'll replace everything.
