Wheel bearings and brakes

Just finished packing my bearings on Jayflight trailer. All went well until I took it on a short run to check things out. I noticed immediately that I had almost no trailer brakes. Long story short - on 3 more subsequent runs of about 10 miles each, the braking improved each time until now back to normal. Was very careful not to get grease on brake parts. Does this make sense?

Drum or disc brakes?

Did you clean the drums or discs with anything?
Change any adjustments ?
I always wipe them off with brake parts cleaner or acetone.

if you backed them off to get the drum off then it would be perfectly normal and it sounds like you have self adjusting shoes in the drums...

Thanks for your responses.I did not back off my shoes to reinstall my drums, which is why I was surprised by the change in brake efficiency. However I called Lippert and learned I have self adjusting brakes which is great news. I had always heard trailer brakes were not self adjusting. Never too old to learn😊
