How many if you use them when your trailer is in storage or not being used?

Hi Steve,
This probably won't help you , but after just spending 1750 bucks on G614's, I put my first set ever on today......Figure if I am spending that much on tires, might as well keep them out of the sun while stored.

I use them. I've read many times it's best to cover, it may be "snake oil" but I believe and like Gwivet I've laid down a chunk of $$ for the G614's and I want them happy.

If the slides are going to be closed I cover the tires. If slides are open, which they generally are, tires are in the shade anyway.

As the others have said, good tires are too big an investment not to take care of them.

My slides are open now so no covers. When stored for the winter, I cover them !

I use mine when it is at home, when we are away from home they don't get used.

I cover mine when in storage.
I don't cover my truck tires, and since it's too big for the garage, it sits outside. Go figure.

I cover them when I put it to bed for the winter. I don't cover them during the camping season.

I cover mine between trips since they are usually 3-4 weeks apart and over the winter.

I got covers for my new 23RB. I use them between trips at home. I will not use them for our weekend tailgates at football games. Now if it were stationary for the entire time between two football weekends, I will put the covers on.

Glad Jayco covers the spare as I'd cover that one too if needed. Bought black ones to try to blend in with bottom side panel.

This was discussed in some detail on another recent thread. Some said it is not the sun that kills tires so no need to cover. I am in the camp that why not cover since it is so easy and inexpensive.

Doing some research online, it is generally believed by tire experts that there are 3 primary things that causes trailer tires to dry rot and prematurely fail. They are the sun, air, and lack of use. Tires are manufactured with among other things, a wax that helps to protect the tires. Regular use continuioisly brings that wax to the surface. Sitting for long stretches in the sun are the primary reason that trailer tires rot when the tires on your car or truck don't. All tires are exposed to the O in air both inside the tire and on the outside. Tractors and vehicles that sit for long stents without use will rot when those on vehicles that get regular use do not.

As for covers, I have them and I use them when TT is sitting at home.

Cover the tires when we are at parked at home.Phoenix Az, is brutal on tires.We replace trailer tires every four years no matter how they look!

99% of the time I cover the tires between trips. Winter storage is inside so no covering then.

I do need to get a new set of tire covers.... Maybe this week.

Just replaced all 4 tires with Goodyear Endurance load E. Dropped a bit of money, so I have all 4 tires covered. Got a sale at Camping World and with Good Sam discount and Good Sam gift certificates, they cost me nothing.

Have used covers on all my RV's over the last 20+ years.

Even if I'm in a campground for 3-4 days I will do it.

I also got into the habit of using Aerospace 303 protectant for tire dressing.

When I had my Class A with 22" tires, which were $350 each to replace, I started using it. Got 7 years out of the tires with no sign of deterioration.

It's a little pricy, but I believe the best out there to help protect against dry rot and the sun. You can buy it on Amazon also. I usually buy the gallon size.

I even use it on the fiberglass exterior walls to help protect the decals and the exterior in general.
