Where are the studs in this wall?

We want to attach a ladder to the wall between the bathroom and bunks in our 2007 X213. Can anybody tell me exactly where are the studs, which direction they run, and are they wood or metal?

Oh, to have x-ray vision...

Many thanks!
Allyson

Buy a digital stud finder, just google it.

Contact Jayco customer support (have VIN handy) and ask them for the frame build drawings of the area in question...., normally they will e-mail a PDF out the next day.

Both ideas mentioned so far are the way I found studs in my walls. I emailed Jayco and received wall drawings within a few days. Measuring tape and drawings in hand, I marked the locations of the studs with blue painters tape. Then used the digital stud finder to confirm the stud locations. All went well and I drilled into studs each time.

I'd get the drawings to be sure (unless you want to open it up yourself to confirm) but I wouldn't call the framing in my interior walls "Studs". Honestly, I'm surprised the interior wall supported the bunks at all. When I opened it up, its basically 1x4s, except at the corner, where its TWO 1x4s stapled together. Something to consider, depending on what you are attaching there and how much stress you think you'll induce.

Also of note, the bottom of that interior wall was NOT screwed through the sill plate to the floor. There was a 1x1 piece under the lower bunk. Wall was stapled to that, and THAT was screwed to the floor. I'd say look good and hard at how it's constructed.

Lets see if I have a pic of that wall "framing"....

Thank you, everybody! I didn't know that you could get that level of detail from Jayco - will definitely do that!

Floor is your best hope to hold that weight, not much to find inside and it wasn't built with that need in mind at factory. Hope it goes in fine for you.
