I don't notice ANY bounciness on our mattress. We have king size foam mattress at home, so we were trying to mock that feeling as much as possible by getting the thickest foam we could find. The 4" topper got pretty close, except the mattress at home is quite a bit firmer.
The factory provided "euro top" with this 4" foam topper is really pretty soft. Once you compress the foam, you can definitely feel the spring mattress underneath. If you really like a firmer mattress, it might be worth the time or effort to find an entirely new foam mattress (like an 8" or 10" memory foam) and put the factory provided euro top in the attic. They can be had all over the 'net. If you're going to stick with a topper, you might go with a thinner one like 2" or 3". Another consideration is the density of the foam. If you like a firmer mattress, try to find a topper with a denser foam. DW and I are a bit on the bigger side, so the 4" works pretty well for us.
