Whitehawk radio turns on by it self

I have no issues with my new whitehawk until a couple days ago. I was outside and heard music coming from the trailer. No one has been in the trailer and the radio was on. I turned it off and went about my work. Later I walked by the TT and it was on again. It keeps doing this over the last few days. I had to turn turn the volume down so I dont hear it (hooked up to shore power) I checked to make sure the alarm was not on. I will remove the unit this weekend and check for loose connections. Anyone have this happen that can make some suggestions. Thanks

I wasn't aware that ghosts came with the white hawk. Hope I don't get one with mine when I pick it up next week.
Also make sure there is nothing in contact with the remote control for the unit.

My in-laws have a Sunline trailer. I don't know the brand of the unit, but the radio turns on whenever their TV or DVD player remote is used. A radio unit remote never came with their used trailer. I finally put a piece of black tape over the radio IR remote sensor. Problem solved.

I can bounce my Samsung remote off walls and still get the TV in our bedroom to respond. Maybe your neighbors are using their TV and turning on your radio?

Is it in the radio programing, like an alarm clock? It may be set to come on at a certain time each day.

Our radio (Jensen) did the same thing. Turns out it was defective. Ours would turn itself on at random times but wanted to play something in the USB jack even tho it was empty. After a couple of outings (and getting up several times a night to turn it off) I talked w/ Jayco and explained how I didn't want to drag the TT 30-ish miles to a dealer and drive a total of 4 round trips for a simple problem. They sent a replacement directly to me and paid to ship the old one back (our TT was still in warranty). Easy swap!

I would make sure that the radio alarm setting is not turned on.

No clue why, ours has done that about 3-4 times last year. The worst was when it happened in the middle of the night while we were camping.

Hey James,
I looked at my notes from this (Oct 2011) and found a number. I think I started out by calling the general Jayco number (Phone: 574-825-5861) and after explaining my issue was connected to "ASA Service" who then connected me to "Tech Service". The person there was Troy and the tech service number was 800-283-8267. At one point I tried to call him but had to leave a message and he called me back the next day.

As I recall I got assigned an "incident" number at the ASA level and they passed me on to tech service when I explained that I didn't mind doing the work myself and that I wanted to avoid the dealer trip.

I recall Troy being very helpful and even called me back after they received the old radio to tell me I didn't include the shipping invoice for them to reimburse me for the shipping cost. I was travelling (business) at the time and didn't have the receipt but guessed it to be about $25, he asked it it would be ok if they just cut me a check for $25. Check arrived about a week later. So for obvious reasons I think Jayco's warranty is the stuff.

Good luck! Let us know how this turns out for you.

I too had the same problem until I turned off the alarm feature on the radio.

Mine is doing the same thing. It turns on and off without my doing anything. Thankfully it hasn't happened in the middle of the night when I'm sleeping! My WhiteHawk was new Aug 2012. I'll check the alarm feature but seems to me it has been random. Thanks for posting the Jayco contact info!

It was the alarm. My wife was pushing buttons without her glasses on and created the phantom radio. Stupid alarm function...

Consider yourself lucky.... I had a microwave that would decide to crank up all on its own, day or night. We use the microwaves as storage for bread, chips etc. Nearly burnt the unit to the ground early one morning....
