Wifi Booster

In search of an external wifi booster setup to take a 5ghz signal (campground AP....the 2.4ghz is restricted to the owner's bandwidth) and be capable of outputting a 2.4ghz signal (to stream to a 2.4ghz ROKU XS......distance is about 125feet.....any suggestions?

Are you sure the CG has 5GHz. 99.9999999% only have 2.4 and they are mostly generations old. I am about 250' away from the AP and I am getting max signal inside my TT, without the Wi-Fi signal booster on.

This is the owners private network on an xfinity dual band router password protected and secure. He has asked a few folks to just use the 5ghz band, so yes, I’m sure... any suggestions? He uses the 2.4 band for his own older devices.

I have the EnGenius202EXT, it is about 4 years old. The send/receive signal strength can be adjusted to your needs. It is a 5GHz / 2.4GHz unit. Any unit you purchase make sure it has an external antenna (mounted outside). The 202 mounts outside and a CAT5 runs back into my TT to my Wi-Fi router. Its range is good for 1.5 miles LOS. I believe the newer models are also 5GHz AC compatible also.

Good Luck,
Don

Duel band WiFi booster

I too have a WiFi booster, an Camp Pro. It will only detect and receive from 2.4 GHz antennas. Even thou the 2.4 GHz spectrum has greater range and is more available in RV parks, the 5 GHz is definitely faster and is being deployed more and more. Anyone buying a WiFi booster should definitely look for one that can utilize both bands. In popular parks, where both bands are available, its my experience that the 2.4 band gets overwhelmed as everyone and their dog use that one. My laptop will use either and at our current location the 5G is faster than the 2.4G using our booster.

this guy has a great video on making your own budget wifi extender.

if you want 5 Ghz instead of 2 Ghz then get a nano station M5 instead of M2. or get both to be super flexible.
