Winegard G2+ Satellite Dish Problems

I have a 2017 Jayco Eagle 338RETS. I bought a Winegard G2+ and hooked it into the Satellite port on the side of the trailer. I hooked the Power Inserter into the Satellite port, inside and then into the receiver. I hooked a HDMI cable into the TV, in the living room and was not able to get a signal. It works if it's directly plugged into the receiver, without going through the satellite port. How can I fix it?

Sat connection inop

First thing I'd do is test the continuity of the outside SAT port with the inside fitting with a multimeter. If no continuity, then obviously there's no connection with the two, hence no reception. The fact you get reception when hooked directly reinforces this I believe, and the problem would seem to be between the outside and inside fittings.

I have a 2017 Eagle 330RSTS (basically the same trailer) and to get my DirecTV to work, I had to hook the feed from my dish to the Aux/Sat2 connector (bottom one of the 3 available). The rest of your setup sounds correct (connector inside to PI, then out of PI to receiver. I also got nothing initially when I connected to the Sat connection (top one of the 3 available). Also, make sure you have the TV set to the proper HDMI input (if more than one).

I suppose it is also possible that the cable input was connected to the sat connector plate inside, so you might try that as well just in case.

Otherwise, there may be a loose connection or other issue with the wiring from the factory that a continuity check mentioned previously, would be my next step.

I have a suspicion that my trailer is just miswired and when I have time, I will get under the bathroom sink (where the docking station stuff is connected to the outside panel) and figure it all out and get things attached where they should be.

This sounds like the culprit for sure.
