Winter is coming

The low tomorrow morning is going to be 25... which means about 21 out in the country away from the heat sink of the city. So I'm off to blow out the water lines and add a little antifreeze to the traps...

Temps in the mid-60s today with windy conditions but back to the upper-70s next week so we don't bother.

Winter is here, up to 12 inches of lake effect snow over the next few days.

I don't bother until I absolutely have to. I use my camper more in winter than in summer. Being one of "those Texans", I always wait until it's totally uncomfortable to do this. So, it's 36 degrees and the wind's blowing about 20 mph... and I'm going out to do this, leaving in about 30 minutes... And, of course, thinking all the while that next time I'll do this when it's warmer... rrriiiiiiigghhtt!!!!

I'm with you...I'll be going to storage tonight to add some antifreeze in the traps/tanks. I blew out the lines after our last trip last month (one less thing to have to do in the cold!).

It was 35 degrees according to the truck thermometer... humidity high... and wind swirling. But I had on several layers under my insulated coveralls. The only thing that got really cold was my hands. But...... it's done and I'm not worried. And I'm sure that next time... I'll again wait until the last minute when it's miserable...

I lived in the DFW are for quite a few years. I was surprised by how cold it could get there from time to time. And the ice storms were something from another world! All those years of being a yankee, I never had to deal with ice like that.

Here - 35*F is shorts and swim attire.

The weather doesn't so much bother me here...it's the temperature swings! We set a record high of 84 here on Tuesday and tomorrow morning were supposed to wake up to the 20's!

The temp swings here are a bit rediculous. Glad I made a snap desicion the blow out the lines after my last trip. I suspect we'd all be ok with it only really being a few hours of sub freezing, but the peace of mind is nice.

My son accidentally put anti-freeze in his trailer's water heater. How bad is this, and what should he do before he uses the water heater, and should he drain/clean it with urgency?

It won't hurt the HWT, the bypass just saves one from putting all that extra antifreeze in just to pressurize the system. I would just drain it and give it a good flush out in the spring
