Winterizing Issue

I winterized the trailer this weekend. When I went to open the faucets to pump the antifreeze through I got nothing from the kitchen sink faucet and the bathroom sink faucet. I did get antifreeze through the outside shower, inside shower and the toilet. Any ideas why nothing would pump through the sinks?

Hmmm this one has me stumped. Were all the low point drains closed when you pumped in the antifreeze?

Yes, the low point drains were closed. I can't figure out why the showers and toilet would draw the antifreeze but not the sinks.

Would you happen to have an in-line filter for the sinks ? Ours has an in-line filter which is supposed to be removed and replaced with a provided clear plastic tube the same length as the filter when you are running anti-freeze through the sink faucets. Don't know if the filter will stop the antifreeze or not, but manual says antifreeze will "damage" the filter.

That is really strange.....did you have all the other faucets shut when you were pumping to the other faucets?

The faucets that did pass antifreeze I assume that this was both hot & cold, and they were turned on separately. I also assume that you engaged the hot water heater by-pass valves (at HWH) and the fresh tank by-pass valve (at pump) as well.

If above is true, then I'm stumped.

Bob

On edit: When you open the kitchen/bath faucets, does the pump even start....., any air coming through the faucet??

Yes, all bypasses were correct. No, the pump wouldn't even kick on when I turned the knobs on the faucets.

Any chance both faucet strainer assemblies are clogged?

Something to try. Put a small amount of water into the fresh tank and turn on the pump. When you get water out of the faucets shut off the pump. Next insert the hose into the antifreeze jug and reconfigure the valves to draw from the jug instead of the tank. Open only one of the valves say to the kitchen faucet and run the faucet until you see antifreeze. If it doesn't work and the pump doesn't run then likely there is another valve that needs to be set to ensure you are drawing from the jug. This is just a guess. If you are still stumped you may wish to call Jayco. Jayco customer service is very good about helping out.

Thanks all. The trailer is put away for the winter so I guess we'll have to see if it'll pump through the tank next spring.

Put more anti-freeze in. I experienced a similar problem. The antifreeze caused the pumpt to run a longtime and sort of foamed. This was after blowing the lines with air. I added two more gallons and it seems to have filled the lined and I'm all set.
