Winterizing Jay Feather 221
I need to winterize my JF 221, and I am having a hard time figuring it out.
As you know most of the manuals are useless, as to the location of things.
It appears that the suction line is under the couch, with the pump. Can't see the pump.
I can't find the W/H cutout valve, Or the valve to switch over to the suction line for Antifreeze.
Any and all help, ideas, suggestions appreciated. Jim

have you removed any panels held in with screws?
I recommend everyone arm yourself with a screwdriver and open up every panel you see to understand what is where.
the bypass for the H/W heater is right at the back of the unit. once you see the back of the heater you will see the valves

UPDATE: Crawl under the sofa, and reach over the partition and turn off the inlet valve, and turn on the Suction line valve to the antifreeze bottle.
There is a hole in the partition, under the bath room sink, and if you peep in there at 2 small valves. (I removed the partition) In my unit, the one on the left is hot. I turned it off to keep water from the W/H. Pumped about 3/4 gal of antifreeze into the system, until all ran pink. Do not forget the toilet and outside shower. Poured the rest of the gal in the sinks and tub P traps.

to properly bypass your H/W heater there should have been 3 valves
did you open your low point valves to drain the system as your first step?
on edit: those two valves under the sink sound more like your low point drains...they have nothing to do with your Hot water heater.
one is for your cold lines and one is for your hot
I do not believe you bypassed your heater. Did you pull the drain plug on your heater ?

Yes!!!! This thing is entirely different than anything else I have had. I have Pink coming from the hot and cold side on every faucet.

Thank you so much for the information, but this unit is not plumbed like that.
Your post is what I have been used to in the past, on my other units, but alas, this one is different.
I have emailed Jayco, to see if I have done it correctly, or if they will send me instructions on how to properly proceed. Thanks again Jim

I knew most of the motor homes and big 5'ers had some different systems but thought all trailers were the same

It is a 2012 Jay Feather 221
You cannot get to the back of the W/H very easily. It is behind the commode, and there isn't a panel that can be removed. It is fixed.

wow that's weird. maybe it is the same but just doesn't have the optional bypass hose.

Yes, I drained the heater. I only used 3/4 gals of Anti freeze to get all faucets and toilet to run pink. So I think, I didn't start filling the water heater.
I'll be back down to the storage unit soon, and will try to remember to take my camera. I'll post when Jayco responds. Thanks again Jim

I heard from Jayco. They sent me a copy of page from the owners manual'
I am going back and search, and see if I can find, what NBHybrid posted,
He has me concerned, that I have not completed the winterizing properly.

I WAS WRONG AGAIN !!!!!!!!!
A very special thanks to nbHybrid for being so nice, in telling me I as wrong.(:-)
I went back today, searching for an access to the rear of the W/H. I finally found it in the bathroom closet. nbhybrid kept pushing for me to look for any panel, and I was blowing him off. This not my first camper, and I knew what he was saying, but I wasn't listening. Going back down this P.M. to do it right.

Hey Jim and NB, nice to see some co-operation on both sides.
My first winterization on the 22'6" Jayfeather was a gong show of epic proportions! Before I found this site I did it wrong - 4 different ways in a row.

those sound like your low point valves. Do they have a "T" handle?
open up all your taps, sink,tub,bath sink,outside shower and then pullup on these handles to drain your lines
