Wired for camera

‘17 306RKDS. Has plug in front behind gas bottles. Has switch in the pass through and says wired for camera. No camera housing on the back. Does the wiring from the switch to the back just provide power to a camera or does it also send the video images back to the TV? TIA.

How many wires do you have, and what colors are they?

On my 2017 Eagle 325BHQS, the switch (which was in the wet bay) merely provided power to the camera. The video was sent wirelessly to the monitor which could either be in the truck or the camper. I was not a fan -- the signal was inconsistent while driving, and the monitor was another thing cluttering my dashboard. I only used it a handful of times and found it to be more of a distraction than anything.

The cameras are nice to have, but I've been driving with mirrors for so long that I often forget that they're even there.

I agree the inconsistency of the wireless cameras is a problem. Been there. On my previous camper I installed a wired camera. I like being able to see who is behind me and the rare times I pass someone. Thanks for your input.

The plug in front only has 2 pins. Power, I assume. I haven’t dug into back yet. I may run a wired camera. Thanks for the reply.

Thanks for the feedback. I just took delivery of a 2023 Jayco Eagle 284BHOK and it is wired for 4 cameras. I am going to install only one-The front door entry camera. I was on the fence about connection while driving.
