wiring for pigtail that attaches to tow vehicle

We have a 2013 jayco swift rd198. Our camper right turn lamp doesn't work most of the time and I'm pretty sure the issue is in the pigtail from the camper that attaches to the tow vehicle. I've bought a new one and new it's time to install it. I tow with a 2014 Ford Expedition and I have the color code chart from the Expedition and it's owners manual. What I haven't been able to find is the color code chart as it exists going into the camper. Is there a standard? Some of the pigtail diagrams I've found on the internet are not consistent. Do you just have to test every wire to see which one is which? I can do that but i would have to think there would be some sort of standardization these days. Any help would be much appreciated!!!!

Have you looked at the existing tt's wire harness? Mine is already cor codes to match. If not. Just apply a little tape (I like yellow electrical tape) and write the color code on it.

Fyi, it could be a bad ground, for that light. Or a loose wire nut.

What have you done to diagnose the issue?

the manual for my 195RB claims the brown wire in position #6 is for Right Turn and Stop.

it appears my manual is a generic 2018 Jayflight manual. Hope this helps once you diagnose.

I agree , look at the light first. I had intermittent problems with mine because the bulb wasn't seating properly. A little dielectric grease fixed that problem.

Have you checked the tow vehicle socket to see if it's putting out power to that wire?

Here are a couple of diagrams, both are standardized. (Center post has different nomenclature, but they serve the same purpose)

On my 2011 Skylark the pig tail has a pigtail that plugs in inside the nose of the trailer. I was able to order a new one directly from Jayco. It came with the vehicle connector and the plug end for the trailer.

Have you checked to see if the tow vehicle has a separate fuse and relay for the turn signals at the 7 pin connector. A blown 7 pin fuse will cause the turn signals on the trailer to not operate while they still operate on the tow vehicle.

7 pin wiring should be standard across the board.

In the fuse box, positions 37 and 38 are the relays for the trailer tow turn lights Left and right respectively. position 45 is the 25A fuse that controls the trailer stop/turn relays'

I still had the manual for our Expedition in my file backups.

Note to self: clean out backup files.

when i changed my pig tail out on my camper the wires where so loos and jayco did not use a big enough wire nut for the # of wires. no idea how they where even working.

these two links helped me understand a lot about the wiring.

When I last changed mine out, I just used the same connections that already existed. The wiring to each pin is standard but I found the color of the wires to not be standard between the pigtail on the new connector and the truck color coding.
