Would this be acceptable

My camper has gone in twice for leak around grey water pipe when traveling in rain.
Dealership said it had to with pitch of the roof and water going into pipe. Their fix: silicone 1 out 3 openings on the vent pipe (what I don't get is if water is going into pipe while traveling wouldn't it end up in the tank?). I will say we traveled in rain coming home and we didn't see any water on pipe.
But now we have a pipe that doesn't have full ventilation.
Look at the pic. You can see all the silicone caulk.
Do you think this is ok?

That is your vent cap, it allows your drains to work properly. It should not be filled with silicone. They have enough sealant for six or seven RV's. Your best bet is to remove all that gunk and start fresh. A small bead of sealant properly applied should be all you need. Any water going where that clear silicon is should end up in your grey or black tanks assuming the pipe joints inside the trailer are glued properly. Whoever did that repair has no clue as to what they are doing.

There are better ways to address this. Here is one.. Still needs caulk but it won't interfere with the venting action.

I can't think of a single place on an RV where silicone is the specified or recommended sealant. I don't know why so many folks (dealers included) think mass quantities of silicone will repair leaks.

No, that repair would not be acceptable.
