Yeti Ice Chest

Ice has always been a issue for us when we camp. I've looked at a portable ice maker at my local RV store and I didn't like the kind of ice it produced. It was hollow and my thinking is it would melt very fast.
So I decided to invest my money in a better ice chest. I bought a Yeti 65 quart, it has 2 inches of insulation on the sides and 3 inches on the lid.
It weights 27 lbs. empty to give you a idea of how well insulated it is.
I have not had a chance to use it while camping but I do have ice in it now in the back of my truck and after 3 days in 98degree heat it has not lost much ice.
But I must warn you these coolers are on the expensive side but if they will save me from making my daily ice run I think it will be worth the money. I did however have to think about it bit a while before I turned a loose that much money for a ice chest.
In the spirit of what this Web site is about, helping others, I will tell you I spent $350 for this ice chest.
I know thats alot and believe me when I say I felt it but I want something that will hold ice and I 'm pretty sure this ice chest will.
To be continued,
After I get to use it a little more!!:hihi::hihi::hihi:

I have a couple of Coleman Xtremes and they seem to work really well. I think that I paid 55.00 apiece. It is all good if it works and does what you want it to do.. Ernie

You are exactly right, I have seen these coolers at several different locations
and I never could pull the trigger until yesterday. I hope it works half as good as I'm hoping.

My nephew has one, and from what I understand, it was well worth his money, especially for the fact it has to keep his beer cold in the pickup bed in the hot, Georgia sun.

But I don't usually sip on mixed drinks, so I don't need ice. And I have a fridge in my TT for my beer and wine.

Last Father's day my kids got me an ice maker. Worked great. Only camping in Disney in July did I need to pick up some ice, otherwise it produced enough to keep the beer cold.

Those are nice coolers! As with most things - you get what you pay for so if you need ice to last - that is the ticket!

I have one of those large Igloo 5 day coolers...We jokingly call it the "body cooler" because...after watching one of those CSI shows....well...you get the picture....

I recently used it on a 4 day camping trip where it was stored outside in the 95o weather. I was in and out of it several times a day. At the end of 4 days it still had a few inches of ice left in it so I was pleased. The only thing I did not like about the cheaper cooler is the outside stayed pretty wet. I imagine the higher end coolers would not have this problem.

I have a friend who is a distributor for Yeti. He runs safaris in Africa in the summers and that is where he discovered them. They are amazing, but yep....they are pricey.
