Hello All,
I am now part of the Jayco family. I purchased the below about a week ago.
A few Questions.
I need to change the type of Jack on the front of the trailer. My Spare tire for my jeep is in the way. Level the hitch height is 26" I am looking for a side mount swing away that would allow me to have that type of height (actually about 3-4 higher so I can get it on the ball). Has anyone ran into this or found a jack that is "tall" enough? I really don't want to have to reinvent the wheel with my spare tire carrier.
Secondly, What material is the roof made from? I think it is an aluminum sheet, just trying to confirm. I want to seal it up before using it since it has been stored in a barn for several years. I was reading the manual I found online with a recommended reseal Annually, so this one is definitely due.
This is my third Popup and this one is by far the cleanest with no crazy smells. Excited to get the "maintenance" taken care of and get it out there.
Thanks,
Adam

Congratulations on the great find and welcome to the forum.
I can't help with your questions, but do suggest that you check the date code on the tires (if you haven't done that yet).

It is on the List of Maintenance Items. They are cracked so before an outing they will be replaced.
Thanks for the heads up!
Thanks,

Welcome from Western NY!. Looking at your picture, you have a top-wind jack. Something to check out might be a side-wind jack, if the handle is out of the way of your spare.

Welcome to JOF.
I would check clearances carefully with a swing-away as well. From the picture it looks like it would interfere with the tanks or the tire depending on the swing direction (do the tanks extend over the frame rail?) I replaced the original top wind on my pup when it broke with a Husky "side wind" that had the handle oriented toward the front. It was much better than the OEM jack. You might be able to find one with a rear facing handle.
For extra stroke, I just used a few 6-10" long pieces of 4*4 stacked under the jack. Mine had a fair bit of extension, but it was a lot easier to stack a bit of wood to just under the jack bottom and then only have to crank a couple of inches plus ball clearance. The blocks provide more options for uneven terrain. This also made the trailer feel a bit more stable; it would sway more with the jack out at full extension.

You can also use a receiver extender which will move the ball back several inches, comes in many sizes. This may help the jack you have clear the tire or as others said use a side winder or go for an electric jack. Yes the top is aluminum skinned and needs to be checked and resealed when necessary. I would email Jayco giving them your VIN and ask what type of sealer they used on the roof, you don't want to use something that has silicone in it as the next time you go to seal it will not adhere to the old stuff.

I am more concerned with moving the jack away from the Spare during any type of off camber situation I don't bend the jack. So Looking to completely remove that jack and put on one of the Side-mount swing-away style. Just seeing if anyone had done this.
Good idea with the wood blocks, I have a few that I will throw in the box.

Cool, I've been looking for something to better store cans and hadn't seen that one. Looks great but it sure puts that tire way back!

Yea, It does stick way out. I was going to rearrange and try to move the tire to the inside. Tire is too wide. So, next best is remove the jack and replace.
