We have the Jayco 1207. There is a carpet lined step leading up to the queen sized bed on the left. We stepped on it to make the bed and it caved in. Took it to dealership to fix, and the mechanic said it wasn't a step, but a cover for the wires under it. Said we should never step on it getting into the bed.
Salesman on the other hand said it absolutely is a step, and is equipped to hold >250 lbs.
Mechanic said that's why salesman is in sales.
What's the right answer? Tough to get up into the bed without using the step.
Build a new one out of some 3/4" oak veneer plywood. Finish to match your interior. You'll get a beefy step and avoid the hassle of interacting with your dealer.

I had a 2010 Jayco 1207 and we used that step all the time. In fact I used to sit on it to put my socks and shoes on. When we bought the trailer my wife asked if that was a step and the dealer said yes. SO we used it as a step.
