1997 Jayco Popup - Door Key

I bought a used popup about 2 months ago and the previous owner lost the door key. My question is, is this something that a normal locksmith can cut a key for or do I need to order a key from the company? Anyone been through this and have insight on the cost?

Thanks in advance!

Many of the older units only had one key that fit all since it was primarily used to keep the door closed while traveling. I would contact JAYCO and see what they say. Also there may be a number on the back of the lock.

You should be able to get one from your local dealer.

Maybe we were lucky but we never locked our pup door's for the 34 yrs we had them. When you consider how easy it is to get in without opening the door, a lock isn't needed. Larry

All you do on my STARCRAFT Trailer is slide you hand down the velcro upper door flap and reach inside and UNLOCK or LOCK in your case the lower entrance door handle. Takes maybe 10 seconds...

Sometimes when I am carrying in a couple of grocery bags it is easier to slip my hand thru the velcro flap to unlock the door then it is too sit the grocery bags down and fumble around for my key haha...

I never locked mine while it was set up but i did when it was folded down. It keeps people out while it is in storage.

You can purchase a new door handle with lock and key from the dealer for about $10.00

Re: 1997 Jayco Popup - Door Key

As an update, spoke to my dealer today and they told me that if I bring them the numbers from the doorknob, they'd get me a key. Only run about $6 max, so I'll probably get some extras.

Thanks for the input
