1999 Jayco Pop Up (Eagle)

Since we got tired of sleeping on the group, we bought a older, but well kept, pop up.
We have a couple of questions.
When we filled the water tank it was noticed that it was all leaking out. The water was coming from underneath and out of a threaded elbow with a barbed end....what is this and how do I stop it from leaking? Should this be a plug instead?

We got the heater working and could hear the water pump running, but no water in the tank stopped that so I was not able to test the hot water heater.

Got the cassette toilet working too

The threaded elbow with the barbed end may have been somebody's replacement to a shut off valve that once existed to drain the fresh water tank. that item in your picture does not look stock. Try putting in a cap that can be found at Walmart or any hardware store to cap it and see if it leaks elsewhere.

You may have some inline water valves that need to be addressed to allow the water to flow when the water pump is on (once you know you have water in the fresh water holding tank). They may have bypassed the water heater if it was winterized and needs to have the valves turned back to water heater mode to allow water flow into the water heater. Make sure there is water in the water heater before turning that on to prevent destroying the unit.

Also, do not run the water heater, until you have water in it. Or you will burn up the heating element or thermal fuse
