2000 jayco eagle 12lso roof seam

Hello,
2000 jayco eagle 12lso pop up camper.
i had a leak on the front roof seam in a rain storm. since then i have unscrewed and removed the aluminum insert molding strip, cleaned the old butyl tape off, and used eterna bond tape to seal the roof seam. this has worked, but you can see the 2 separate pieces of aluminum roof starting to push the eterna bond tape up. it hasn't ripped yet, but doesn't look great either.
so i was going to install the aluminum molding strip again with screws to keep the aluminum roof down and make it look a touch nicer. obviously, i will need to use butyl tape as this will seal the new screw holes but what size do i need? the aluminum molding strip is 1.25" wide. So i imagine 1.25" wide butyl tape but for the most part all i can find is 1". and also what thickness of butyl tape? 1/8" and 1/4" seems too thin from what i remember of peeling off the old butyl putty.

any help is greatly appreciated. thanks in advance!

One inch should be wide enough if you can't get the 1 1/4", just use thicker and it will squeeze to 1 1/4" even if you have to double up the tape.

You could put a strip of Eternabond over the whole repair after you stabilize the crack.
