2008 Jayco 1007 Furnace

Just purchased our first pop-up, a 2008 Jayco 1007. We're trying to figure out how to get the furnace going, as we didn't get any heat after opening the propane valve, flicking the thermostat to ON, and moving the temp control up. It just spits out cold air.

I've seen a video showing a pilot light mechanism behind the furnace grill inside the trailer, but ours doesn't have any such mechanism.

Any advice would be appreciated.

It could take awhile for the air to bleed out for the furnace to ignite. Do you hear it clicking (ignitor) when the blower comes on?

Hard to say, I took my 1006 out 3 times last summer. Total of 11 days. Used a 20lb cylinder for the fridge and cooking. Only used the furnace once on September long weekend. We kept it off during the day and ran it on a cold night only to keep the temp up to where the sleeping bags would be comfy, ran it on solar and battery power to boot. Still had enough LP afterward to use it on the gas grill at home a few times before it ran dry. A 5lb tank wont go far, especially if you are using the LP for other appliances as well. Shut the furnace off when you don't need it. Based on my usage I would hazard a 20lb tank to last 3 or 4 nights if the furnace is needed on top of the fridge and cooking.

Do you hear the ignitor clicking? On ours (same vintage) the blower would come for about 30 seconds after which you would hear repeated clicking noises (electric arc) until the furnace caught. If you are not hearing the clicking, then you need to investigate the ignitor. If you hear the ignitor, but no ignition, you need to investigate the gas flow first. Also be aware that at 13 years old the heat exchanger should have a very close inspection as well for cracks.

You are correct, no pilot for this furnace, it auto-ignites. That's unlike your fridge that does have a pilot for the gas.

Also good to have a CO detector with you as well using an older furnace like that. Ours is from 92' so we always make sure to have a working CO meter just in case.
