I had a ice box cooler built in. I found it useless and a waste of space. We bought a nice cooler and after that just put in the car while traveling or going anywhere that we might need a picnic, buy food or just want a drink. It held ice much better than the built in one.

I took it out and put it in the attic.

Then I installed some side rails and made three drawers from lightweight plywood. I purchased a door that was a close match to the other doors.

After that we had three large capacity drawers to hold clothes for the kids. The door would not be necessary if I had figured a way to hole the drawers in while traveling and was a nuisance to open.

We also added a pvc pipe on the tongue to hold our poles for the awning.

I just added a 6x6 square pvc post cover that sits on top of the rear bumper wedged behind the spare tire. I bolted it to the bumper. I'm going to put hot dog cookers, pie maker, fire poker, maybe fishing poles etc. inside it. I cut two pieces of 3/4 plywood to fit inside as the caps for each end. It will also fit at least 1 fold up camping chair.

I pulled the hand pump, plumbed in a 12v pump and added an intake to pull water from outside source in addition to the stock tank and plumbed an quick connection for an outdoor shower. I fabricated a bracket to hold my Triton shower that is completely removable and adjustable.

I lifted it and added 3500# axle and 10 ply tires and a place for an ATV or storage.

I'm having a box from diamond plate, thin diamond plate, made for the back over the spare tire holder (I don't have one right now, tire I mean) to hold spare fresh water, and spare grey water tanks both for when I can't get some of one or rid of the other.

Interested in how you did this, care to take a picture of it?

If you drycamp or boondock, then led lights and golf cart battery upgrade. I also had a portable 100w solar panel to charge batts. If I didn’t run out of food or water I could stay a long time.

Pugs or solar blankets on the bunk end roofs to keep tree sap off and help in keeping the interior cool/warm depending on if your using the AC or furnace. Also consider the Reflectix (bubble wrap with foil on both sides) in the went end windows to also with temperature control. It's hard to see the Reflectix in the pic below.

I’d avoid putting pugs up there!

Bumper storage box.

vtyler,

the post cover was white so I just went to walmart and got some cheap black spray paint and painted the outside to match the bumper. I drilled up through the bumper and ran some bolts through. Also cut some wood to make endcaps. We used it this past weekend and it worked out pretty well.
