Atwood 85841 Master Cylinder Replacement Kit for Brake Actuators

How do you know if you need to replace the brake actuator master cylinder? My Jayco pop up has the Attwood 85841 cylinder reservoir. But I'm not sure if it need replacement. The brake fluid inside looks watery. I'm not familiar with brake fluid. Is is watery or oily looking? I had it saved in my amazon list but now it is unavailable anywhere. Is there a replacement?

I can't speak about your actuator but brake fluid absorbs water over time. If it doesn't have a light oil viscosity and appears more watery, it's time to replace it. There are different types of brake fluid out there that are given a DOT rating. I don't know what brake fluid rating you need but you're probably safe with a DOT 3, which is the most common. Higher DOT rating are generally more expensive and are for high temperature application.

The manual says to use DOT 3 rated brake fluid.
