Atwood Furnace not functioning

I bought a used 2007 Jayco tent trailer (model 1007) and my family and I love it. Everthing in the tent trailer works. But the furnace won't kick on. The previous owner never used it. It still had the owners manual attached inside. I've followed the directions, but nothing happens. The thermostat to the furnace has two controls: one to adjust the temp and a little switch that says off. It tried moving the switch from the off position but it feels stuck and I don't want to force it too much or it'll break. What should I do?

Thanks. I'll give it a try. When I switch it on, how far over will the switch go? I don't want to overdo it and break it.

And if I get the switch to move over to the on position, should I hear the furnace immediately turn on?

The on switch doesn't move to far, but it is really tight and takes some "force" to move it.

Once the switch is "on" and you move the temp lever to call for heat, you should hear the fan come on, then a few clicks before the burner ignites and you have heat.

This is assuming you have a battery (or shore power) and have the propane tank valve open.

Push hard, you will feel a click and it move maybe a 1/4 inch to the on position. If the furnace has never been used turn it up fairly high, it will give you quite a burning smell the first couple of cycles - best to do that before you are in the campsite ready to turn in.

Excellent! Congratulations!!! I had the same issue with my new Sport 10... unfortunately tried to use the furnace for the 1st time while at the campsite and it was getting really cold. Fortunately though, I had wifi and was able to find on the forum the same issue you had!

Just want to say thanks here! So glad I found this post. At campsite now and cold! Couldn't figure out the darn thermostat. Lever felt stuck in off position too and I was afraid to force it. You'd think there would also be an arrow pointing towards on as,well.

Also brought a portable heater to use to save on propane. Another great tip from forum members!

Welcome to JOF.

Do you hear any clicking noise from the igniter?

We suggest a phone call to Jayco support or the local dealer for more real time assistance.

Please let us know the outcome.

Welcome to the forum.

Quick questions...
Do you have 12v power?
Does the furnace fan come on? (the fan starts blowing before the furnace will fire)
Is the thermostat set to heat? (it also controls the air conditioner)
Did the furnace blow warm air during the PDI?

Just to reduce possible confusion, I have never seen a thermostat in a pup that controlled both. That is only on bigger trailers. Your AC controls are generally on the AC unit itself.

Maybe we were replying to different posts?

Not all SLX units are 'pups'. I see some that are listed as 36'! Hopefully jaynescot's problems are resolved and they will respond to let us know what worked... and what model they have.

Just because this thread is in the Pop Up Camper's sub-forum. I agree the piggyback poster is probably not a pup, but people in this sub-forum are usually looking for answers about pups and we wouldn't want them getting confused looking for a switch/setting that isn't there.
Most of the previous issues noted on here were for the notoriously sticky thermostat power switches; ours was the same in the pup, and isn't any better in our HTT which also does not have integrated HVAC systems. Most of the smaller Jayco units will not have integrated AC and Heat controls.
