Question Bearing seals on a 1206 with E-Z-Lube axle?

Howdy,

I picked up a 2006 1206 PUP a few days ago and after discovering the surge brake actuator is shot due to the fact that the previous owner never purged the lines I've decided to switch over to electric brakes. Part of the process will be repacking the bearings which were in good shape when I pulled everything apart. It seems prudent to replace the seals while I'm at it but I'm not sure which replacement seal I should be ordering.

Does anyone know what seals are used on a 2006 1206 trailer with the Dexter E-Z-Lube axle?

Thanks,

David

Couldn't tell you. Can you find out on Dexter's website? They probably have a manual online you could view or print out. You could just pop the old one out, measure the bore that the seal was in with some dial/digital calipers and measure the outside diameter of the spindle where the seal rubs, take the measurements & the old seal to NAPA, Applied or Motion Industries and get your seals from them.

I was reading through the stack of manuals late last night that the previous owner passed off to me and came up with the part number according to Dexter's literature. Then I searched through their website and got a cross reference between their number and a seal that etrailer has online and think I got it.

For anyone else who might come across this in the future the info you'll need is:

-10 x 2 1/4 brake size hub use Dexter K71-303-00 grease seal for E-Z-Lube version (cuttoff was year 1997 or 2003 forward)
-1.72" ID x 2.565" OD
-TruRyde RG06-050 matches up and costs about $6

Someone please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

-David
