Best Velcro?

Hi I'm new here. Just bought a 2001 Jayco Qwest 8u. Were getting our camper ready for a trip in a few weeks. Camper has some minor things that need fixing. Right now I'm trying to find a velcro that will stick to the canvas and the aluminum frame on the door. There is none right now. I bought some heavy duty velcro from wal mart but its not sticking to the canvas. Anybody got any suggstions?

Nate

Dont buy the velcro with adhesive....it won't hold-up. Use cloth-back (clothing application) velcro and sew it onto the fabric (sew the edges and cross through the middle) - contact cement to the aluminum.

EDIT: Try to sew it on fabric that is warm / moist / fully stretched...

I had read to try a product called quick Grip? They say you can buy this from a fabric store and it sticks to metal, clothe even concrete? Any body use this stuff?

Adhesives are designed to stick to different things. One of the things you can do is to clean the surface with soap and water, once dry, wipe the area down with rubbing alcohol to improve the bonding adhesion. Plain rubbing alcohol will not work with all adhesives, but it usually will help. Next thing to note, is that with most PSA adhesives it takes 24 hours for a full bond between the in your case the canvas and the Velcro. So do not play with it for a full day.

Buy the cloth baked velcro and then glue it with Goop Automotive glue. Make sure you let it cure for at least 48 hours.
