Bone dry winch..

I think I just dodged a major bullet, here..

I wanted to check the winch, but could not get the plastic access cover off. It was held on with 2 phillips head screws that seized into the frame, and, the heads were stripped.

I got them out by chirseling the heads off. When I got the cover off, I could see that the winch was bone dry!!! I quickly got some oil on it but can only imagine how long it has been left that way! I totally don't get why people buy pop ups and then do not maintain even the most critical components.

They don't recommend grease or oil on the cable,if that is what you are referring to, since it collects dirt and grit.

Thanks, I was referring to the actual 2-gear winch assembly.
