Brand New Damaged Pop-Up Owner

Just purchased a 2013 Pop-Up yesterday. We’ve been owners for less than 24 hours. Just went out to open up the camper to show the family. Heard a cracking sound in back rear corner right before the top corner collapsed almost hitting wife in the head. This is fun!

Can you post a pic of the damaged area? Someone here may have a fix/solution for you.

At least you didn't go to your first camp-out like the people who came in next to us. He was a large guy and crawled out on the bed to fasten the ceiling canvas pole. But he forgot to put in the support poles under the bed end.

Yep, it bent down 45 degrees. Wow , yelling and screaming by him and spouse. They crammed it back in and lowered it part way because of the bent parts and went home. Sad.

Thanks. Looks like something is coming through the wood subflooring on the underneath right below the support pole area. There is a bulge, tear, and shattered wood in the tarp underneath where the red arrow is pointing.

Would love to see your list. What item on a before and after checklist would have prevented something pushing through the subflooring and collapsing the corner. And which list...the before or the after? This was literally my first time raising the unit after purchase. Thanks!

Looks like a 1206. I had that unit for 7 years. Great pop up! Happy to help if you need advice in how to run its systems.

I’m not sure what is wrong, but I have heard about the lifting cables becoming disconnected or broken. Maybe that is what is wrong. Sorry, never happened to me so I would t know how to fix. Google might help though. Good luck to you!

I was referring to RogerR, sorry if it was due to a major defect and not a set up procedure.
My bad and I am sorry.

Perfect! You got that out of the way right away. Something is going to go wrong. Pity the poor folks that are still waiting for their problem to surface.

Welcome!

Sounds like a water leak that the previous owner didn't address.

Can you manually raise it up? And if so raise it up and have a precut 2x4 you can stick in there to help hold it up. Then you’ll be able to get a good look from the inside....

I’ll say either the cable(s) binding or the locking clamp may not have been fully released before trying to raise it up.

You may have to push down on the other corners while lowering it and then try to raise it again by crank handle rather than power motor if possible.

I believe the "list" comment was in regards to the guy who bent the bed by crawling out on it before stabilizing it. You have done nothing wrong and I'm so sorry this happened to you! Bummer!
