Canvas out of whack?

Hi, I own a 1992 Jayco 1006 pup. It's a great little pop up. One annoying problem when setting up the camper involves putting together the "king size" bed. I am able to install the center and right pole when raising the canvas end but cannot install the far left pole. It's too hard to push in. And if I am lucky enough to get it in, the middle pole falls out. I have checked all three poles numerous times to make sure I am using the right ones. I do notice that my canvas is not equally centered when putting up. And one side also appears lower than the other. Could there be something preventing the canvas from propping up evenly or properly? Anyone else ever have this problem? Thanx for your input.
