do i need a WD hitch ?

Just bought a 2000 jayco eagle 12SO , tow with a 2007 gmc envoy denali with a 6100lb tow capacity --should we have a wd hitch ? i see conflicting info on-line and would appreciate some thoughts ( we previously had a 1979 rockwood that weighed about 1500 lbs loaded and had no issues without one ) thank you in advance

if that is just a pop up then you would not need a WDH...

I found online that it is a popup with a published dry weight of 2165 lbs. You probably don't need a WDH, but it really depends on how much the tongue weight affects your truck. I used to tow a popup larger than this one (18' 6" closed and about 3500 lbs. gross weight) with a 2005 Chevy Trailblazer (basically the same truck as yours) without a WDH and I was well within my trucks limits.

At that weight and combo the need for a wdh is low but you can still get sway control if you need it. An Andersen has great sway control. That said, I towed popups with Grand Caravans and a Jeep with no sway problems.
