Door gap

Appologies if I've been posting too many questions (new owner, I have plenty).

2019 12UD. There is a small gap in the corner of the door when the popup is closed for travel. The weather stripping seals nice on top, but Im not sure if I should be concerned about the corner. Rain doesn't seem to get in, but Im worried it might during travel.

Is this normal on new units?

TBH I'd be worried about mice more than rain. They can get through a hole the size of a dime, and that looks like it might do.

Is the weather stripping a bit long at the other end of the door? Wondering if you can just reposition a bit to cover the gap?

It almost appears that the cap is not all the way down. Did it maybe get tweaked a little bit to the drivers side?

No the stripping is good length on the other end, and its held by screws. Its almost as if the L channel on the left of the door is too short, and stripping on top as well. But it came from the factory like this, so I'm kind of stumped as to why...

I'm not sure if it should go down more than this? I've attached a few pics for reference. This is my first popup, so I'm not sure how far down it should go.

I tried lowering it a bit more.. won't go further down and seems like all 4 corners are resting in their spots.

IMO it shouldn't be, and would expect it to be corrected by your RV dealer.

Okay, so looking at the photos, it appears that the lid may be sitting a bit high in the back. In the second last photo, is that the top of the frame box visible beneath the bottom edge of the black trim edge on the top? If it is, this edge would generally be tucked up under the cap edge. That's pretty much all I'm basing this observation on.

Take a look at your latches. Are they adjusted all the way to the top? (Probably shouldn't be.) You can try turning them down a bit so that when you latch them the top snugs down a bit. My top would move probably 1/4-1/2" when latching. Latch should be snug, but not a real hard effort to close.

I know that you mentioned roof damage and a new roof in an earlier post; is it possible that the new roof was installed misaligned?

Note: this is an observation based on a couple of limited size photos; you are the best judge of if there is a big problem or not. If there is an issue it is warrantied, although most local dealers can be hard to deal with. I suspect LD with the claim of "Canada's Largest RV Dealer" is probably going to be one of those. If you think the dealer is giving you the brush off, PM me for the name of a local independent RV shop (repair only) for a 2nd opinion.

Thanks Bankr. Looking at other photos online, that aluminum rear lip seems to be showing for other units. Unfortunately, i havent been able to find a good quality close up picture of the closed travel door.

The new roof hasnt been installed yet (its on order). I'll likely get this addressed at the same time if its a defect and not me doing something wrong.

The front right latch is at max, but the rest have some adjustment left, but they arw definately not loose.

You're right, the rear right portion does seem a little on the side. Next time I open and close it, ill check to make sure the roof isnt catching on anything. Thanks again

Ok. So I raised it again, made sure everything was tucked in properly, and closed it back.

Im really thinking it's a design flaw at this point, as if Jayco didn't put a long enough L bracket on the latch part of the door, and not enough weather stripping on top. Ive attached a few more pictures which may support this. If anyone has a newer jayco unit, say 2017-2019 and wouldn't mind taking the same pictures, that would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks again.

I would forwarded your photos and your concern to your RV dealership's service manager with your pop-up's VIN. In the event that your dealership knows about the issue, there might be some part(s) that can be ordered so they have them when you bring the pop-up in for the roof R&R.

Anything to save multiple trips to the dealer

Update. I spoke to my dealer today and showed them pictures. They thought the roof may not be going down fully as well.

Got home, opened her up again, remade sure everything was tucked in again, and closed back up. Still the same gap. Tried pulling the roof a bit to the side as dealer suggested but its a no go.

So I decided to look around the net for pictures of my model, with the travel door closed.
On Jayco's website, the exact model with top down shows the same gap present... Im starting to wonder if this is the design of the camper, but I really can't comprehend why.
