Door not tight

Hi

Just picked up a 2001 Jayco Qwest 12A

There are (2) little square tabs on the bottom of the door frame that fit into slots on the camper. When I crank the top up, the upper door tabs are not flush inside these holes. If i lower the top so the tabs fit nice in the holes then the top is too loose. I hope this makes sense. Ideas why this is? Thanks. Tim

When you say top is loose, I take it you mean the canvas, it is not always pulled tight. Being that old I would be surprised if the canvas hasn't been replaced as well, so it maybe a tad larger than the original.

Sorry Ill try expaining again. The door frame is loose where it attaches to the lower part of the camper. The upper door frame has two little tabs at the bottom and when the top is cranked up those tabs dont sit flush in the holes, to get them flush in the holes I have to lower the top slightly. Hope this helps

Lower the top until the door fits.
Is each side of the top raising level/equally. Cables all look ok?
After 20 years it may have a few quirks.

That is what I did.
Each side is rasing and level.
All cables look okay.

Since I lowered it just a bit to make the door fit, the cables were not completly tight - is this okay?

Probably should lower the top and go back up again but stop at the point you need so that the cables are tight instead of having loose cables, for safety sake.
