Electric Brakes - Anyone added?

Hello, All. Has anyone attempted to add electric brakes to their popups? The dealer said they would do it for about $500, which seemed expensive to me. It seems that the parts could be had (not sure if you can order Jayco OEM parts from anyone other than dealers) for much less and I have some mechanics in the family.

Thanks!

500 is cheap if you need a new axle to accommodate the brakes. If your axle has the brackets it should be cheaper. Unless you are towing with a teeny vehicle I would never add brakes

I am getting brakes added to our pup in October. It's costing right around $400 for 7 inch brakes and the breakaway system. Our pup is fairly light, but the extra safety for my family for what i consider a reasonable cost is worth it to me. Don't forget you will also need a break controller if you don't already have one. You'll have to figure that cost in as well. I'd spend a little more and get the proportional controller.

Very interested in this thread. If we keep our 1007 PUP, we're going to add trailer brakes just for peace of mind.
