Exhaust fan or AC unit on a new 1207

Hello,

I will be picking up a new Jayco 1207 in a few days, and am having a hard time deciding between an AC unit and an exhaust fan.

I asked these three questions and got the three responses from the dealer (Hilltop in MN).

1. Is the A/C unit able to operate as just an exhaust fan?

The A/C will operate as a fan, but not an exhaust fan.

2. Would the A/C unit be able to run an exhaust fan (no A/C) off the battery? I assume the fan could run off the battery.

The A/C will only run off of 110V and the fan can run off of 12V or 110V.

3. Is the weight of the A/C unit plus four bikes a concern for the roof?

The roof is able to hold the weight of bikes and an A/C. The A/C weighs around 95lbs.

I would really like to be able to have an exhaust fan when we don't have shore power, I do like the idea of AC, but am concerned about the size and bulk also.

Does anyone have any experience with the differences between the exhaust fan and the AC units?

IMHO, just go with a vent. A popup has NO insulation value and so an AC would pretty much have to be running all the time. Just unzip the panels and let the air in for ventilation.

Wife made the decision for me.....A/C

If you unzip the windows you have an incredible amount of ventilation, you do have to worry about rain then and privacy at night.

Also the a/c will remove the humidity when necessary. So, on nice days open the sides and on humid days turn on the air.

When we had the pup we always carried a oscillating fan as well.

My Pup has both and AC and a power exhaust vent........usually the AC is off during the day with the window flaps open and the vent fan running. Use the AC at night. Works for us.
