Extended Warranty

Good morning all.

Long time owner, but brand new forum member. We first purchased an 89 Jayco Dove 806 in 1991 and have used it ever since. It has pretty much gone coast to coast in Canada and throughout a portion of the US. Still in reasonable shape but decided with retirement and more camping looming, it was time to upgrade.

Amazed at the changes since then. Anyone who is familiar with the old models knows you had about four square feet of floor space so that is the biggest change, a hall way now from one end to the other... that and a queen size bed to share with the Missus and the dog. Also many other conveniences that we will love having.

Amongst the changes though are things such as the 3 way fridge, furnace, power roof vent etc. We have been offered an extended transferable warranty that would provide an extra 5 years on the parts not covered by the standard ones.

Having had ours for 26 years with basically nothing in it that could go wrong, I'm left to ponder if it is worth it. Has anyone experienced problems with the "fail-able" parts. Would not want to turn the fridge into an icebox because of problems with it.

My apologies if I have missed something in the search but couldn't see a current thread on this. Appreciate anything you can share.

We usually don't do extended warranties, but we, too, just upgraded and did the extension. It also comes with the Route 66 benefits (help while we are out on a trip, discounts, etc) and we plan to use the camper a lot and for a long time. We believe it is a win win situation.

Thanks Jasum, normally agree with low cost of things like microwaves etc. No idea what the cost of a 3 way fridge is.

I believe with the extended warranty they use a rebuilt cooling unit that goes for about $700.00 and not replace the fridge. (I may be wrong)

What rig did you purchase that has a 3 way fridge?

We stay away from extended warranties and it has served us well thru a good many rv's.

It's a popup 10SD. I think that's what they called the fridge, propane, AC and DC.

I would not spend my money on an extended warranty on a popup.
