EZ lube

Hi all. I have a 2011 Jayco 19RD. I took apart the wheels, cleaned and degreased my wheel bearings etc. Everything in great condition. I purchased a grease gun to top up the grease using the EZ Lube hubs. I started pumping the grease gun but it seems the grease was going through to the inside spindle area. It seemed to just collect in the area surrounding the grease nipple. Ideas?

Love the diagram. So would it be safe to assume where the grease goes is very narrow and therefore that’s why grease seems to accumulate around the nipple and doesn’t appear to be going in?

When I first did mine it took a long time for it to come out around the spindle. If yours is coming out around the fitting, it maybe loose, or the tiny ball in the fitting is seized. Unscrew the fitting to see if any new grease has entered into the spindle.

Are you slowing rotating the wheel while pumping the grease gun? There needs to be steady rotation of the bearings in order to pull the grease through them without blowing it out the seal and into your drum where it will ruin your brakes. It can take quite a while for the cavity between the bearings to fill when it's empty so some patience is required. Dexter has some good videos on their website on how to use the E-Z Lube. Might be worth taking a look the help familiarize yourself with the process.

Thank-you. At least I know when I repacked the wheel bearings I put a heck load of grease on the spindles, in the wheel hub, etc. So for now I’ll let it be. Next year I will check the grease fittings.

Now I use 2 different colors when I do this so this year I’ll use yellow and next year I’ll use red. So you pump and turn your wheel with the red cartridge and just keep pumping till all the yellow comes out and the red starts flowing then your done. I use a lithium ion and it’s high heat wheel bearing grease and I get it at NAPA.
