Fresh water floaters

I searched the forums for sanitizing my water system, but none really addressed the problem I'm having

We took our pup out for the first time this weekend - 1997 Eagle 10 ld. We had a blast, but I noticed there were floaters in the water. We had the campground water connected, but I don't think it was from that. Our pup has a removable 5 gallon tank you can connect and then manually pump the water from the sink. The tank isn't connected, but I really noticed the gunk after I shut off the water and pumped the sink handle to flush out the remaining water. I think it must have had some water left in the line and sat for a really long time. It may be beyond flushing with a cleaner. My manual doesn't have a plumbing diagram. I'm wondering if I can easily change out the hose?

Sounds like hard water scale that had formed in your tank from previous use and has become suspended in the water and then pumped out. I don't drink the water from my trailer taps anyway so stuff like that doesn't bother me.

Remove the tank, flush several times with filtered water, replace all the lines and disassemble the water pump and clean everything out real good. Hook it all back up and if your still grossed out, buy a case of bottled water.

If it's lime scale, try a 50/50 solution of white vinegar and water. Fill the tank with it, pump it through the faucet(s) and let it set in the lines for an hour or so. Then remove the aerator from the faucet(s) and run the solution through them for a couple minutes or so each. Next, remove the tank and drain it. Add about 1/4 cup of baking soda to it, and fill it full of water to get the vinegar taste/smell out of it. Hook it back up to the water system, fill the lines and faucets with this solution and let it set, again for about an hour. Finally, flush the tank, water lines & faucets several times with fresh water, and reattach the faucet aerator(s). That should take care of the problem, and the water should taste better, as well. Works well for cleaning the coffee maker and the steam iron, too. (But cut the baking soda to about a tablespoon for the coffee maker, and you won't need it at all in the steam iron.)

You don't say if the "floaters" were mineral or organic. If mineral, then the above suggestions are great. If you see something organic I'd suggest doing the above but substitute a bleach mixture and do the sanitize thing. It wouldn't hurt to do it anyway.

Thanks for all of the suggestions. I'm not sure whether it is organic or mineral. I'm going to pop it up in the driveway this week and have a better look.
