We have a 2007 Jay Series 1207 and we love it. However the full sized door drives me nuts! it seems like it is held in place by the most flimsy hardware possible. I can deal with the plastic "clips" or whatever you may call them around the bottom of the door but the 2 tiny metal knobs?? that attach the top are constantly coming loose they are barely big enough to hold the bracket in the first place. Has anyone found a way to more securely mount the door?
The plastic keepers on out 2003 Jayco Designer 12F5 are garbage. Once I got the door where it needed to be I ended up drilling 2 holes in the bottom aluminum plate (theshold) and the floor and putting dowel pins though them to keep them in place. I did have a washer welded to the top of the pin to create a head. I really don't like the full-length door. I liked the split door in our Eagle 10 a lot better. It was easier to handle and would just sit on top of the bottom door. Our camper is not up right now but I am going to put it up today after work. I will take photos of the pins and holes then.
thanks for the photos. That looks a lot better to secure the bottom. I really don't like the way they built the doors. So frustrating and it doesn't help that I have a 3 year old who thinks every door needs to be slammed shut
