Heat Strip in A/C

I have a 1998 Jayco 10UD that I added A/C to this summer. It is the Coleman Mach series. It does have the heat strip in it and works fine. My question is, can you control the temperature or is just on or off?

The temp dial that you use for the a/c should also control heat-strip temp, at least it did in my son's hybrid.

That heat strip works but I prefer to use a small portable heater with an digital thermostat on the floor. It only draws 1200 watts so I can run on a 20 amp connection. The heat is down low where I need it. It is also a lot quieter.

The strip up top is handy if you are really cold on arrival and want a warm up. I agree with the previous. Works on the same AC thermostat.

Thanks Grumpy, I'll have a chance to try it this coming week-end.

That's how it works in my htt.

Usually we just use the ceramic heater, as it is a lot quieter

Also note, that my heat strip is something like 500 watts. Not the 1500 watts my portable ceramic heater puts out.

Usually we just use the ceramic heater.
From Coleman's spec sheet:

Running Watts Heat Strip: 1800

Which puts out about 5,600 BTUs.
