HOLE-LY Crap

Brought my 1 year old Jayco sport to the campsite tonight... Went to raise it and notice A ONE INCH HOLE on the top! I thought that something must have punctured through, but no. Possibly a rock in transit??

What do you recommend I do???

Duct tape will get you through the weekend.

You should be able to examine the puncture wound to determine whether it occurred from the inside or outside the trailer. Is it perfectly round like a broom handle or tree branch?

I'd go with Gorilla Tape to get you through the weekend and home again. That tape will hold forever and not come off in transit. I know, I cracked my AC cover on a low sign and the tape held on for over 1000 miles. Hope you can pick some up close by...Wallyworld carries it. Good luck and have a great time camping anyway.

For a permanent repair, I'd fill the hole with RTV silicone caulk and strike it off level with the surrounding roof. Let the RTV cure fully. Next I'd use a circle of Eternabond roof tape centered over the hole that extends at least an inch all the way around the hole. Cut the patch in a circle so that you don't have pointy corners that tend to peel up easier.

That has a metal roof right? If so cut the lid off of a tin can.. apply caulking to the bottom of it.. and screw it to the roof.. apply more caulking or use eternabond tape. I did this on my tent trailer and 10 years later it was still working ...

If it's only 1 year old, I'd take it back to the dealer for warranty repair or replacement!!

EternaBond tape

I would strongly recommend using EternaBond tape to make this repair more permanent. Check out what other campers who have used this have to say about this stuff. I think you will be impressed with how well this works.

This would not be a warranty issue, insurance possibly, but not warranty.
